How is Luang Phor Krai related to Luang Pu Thuat?

Luang Phor Krai (also known as Luang Pu Thuat Krai) of Wat Lamphaya was a real historical monk who lived during the Ayutthaya period or earlier.
According to oral history, he was a highly accomplished monk with supernatural abilities and was widely revered in the region since the Ayutthaya era.
His relics were later enshrined at Wat Lamphaya around B.E. 2505–2506 (1962–1963), and amulets were subsequently created from B.E. 2507 (1964) onward to honor him and his spiritual power.
These creations are connected to the Luang Pu Thuat lineage, with Ajarn Tim and Ajarn Nong also participating in the consecrations.

The “key” used by serious Southern Thai collectors to distinguish

true Luang Pu Thuat lineage amulets from amulets that only carry the Luang Pu Thuat name

Luang Phor Krai of Wat Lamphaya belongs to the same ritual lineage as Luang Pu Thuat —
he is not merely a monk from the same historical period.

1) Luang Phor Krai was part of the same master system as Luang Pu Thuat

The Southern Thai spiritual tradition during the time of Luang Pu Thuat was not limited to Wat Chang Hai alone.
There was a network of master monasteries, including:

  • Wat Phakho

  • Wat Lamphaya

  • Wat Napradu

  • Wat Sai Khao

These temples shared:

  • The same ritual system

  • The same set of sacred scripts

  • The same master lineage

Luang Phor Krai of Wat Lamphaya was one of the senior masters within this network.

2) Luang Phor Krai was a teacher of the very methods used by Luang Pu Thuat

In the Southern tradition, masters did not teach only chants.
They transmitted:

  • How to inscribe sacred scripts

  • How to perform consecration rituals

  • How to prepare sacred materials

  • How to establish ritual space

Luang Phor Krai was a master within the same operational system that Luang Pu Thuat used.

He was not a secondary lineage —
he was a parallel master-level lineage.

3) Why Luang Phor Krai helps you “decode” Luang Pu Thuat

Chinese collectors often refer to Luang Phor Krai amulets as:

“The key to decoding Luang Pu Thuat.”

Because by studying:

  • The sacred scripts

  • The mold designs

  • The ritual structures

of Luang Phor Krai’s amulets,
one can understand how Luang Pu Thuat consecrated his amulets.

4) The market is now returning to the “original masters”

The Luang Pu Thuat market is becoming saturated,
and serious collectors are now asking:

“Who was the teacher of the teacher?”

And the name that keeps emerging is
Luang Phor Krai of Wat Lamphaya.
